The Lavelle hair story began in 1949 when my Grandfather, Neville Lavelle, began his apprenticeship as a hairdresser. That same year he married my Grandmother, Coral.
Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Neville and Coral purchased a gift and toy shop which became the Bangalow Newsagency. It was here that he ran a barber shop until 1976 when they retired to Ballina. His scissors, apprenticeship papers and photo’s of the original ‘Lavelles’ have pride of place in the salon. I am proud to continue this tradition by including my name in the business.
I believe strongly that hairdressing is a craft. An art that requires passion, dedication, research, science, education and creativity.
I believe these attributes require the right environment to be delivered – a space for hairdresser and client alike to come together in an accessible, creative way to achieve and deliver our mission – ‘your best ever hair!’
It is a reflection of my respect for mentors and colleagues that have taught me so much and continue to do so.
This story is an important thread to the creation of Lavelle Hair and is experienced on a daily basis in salon. Carrying history forward to the present in a progressive way.
